Accessory: 2D Digital Video Extensometer

The Bose® 2D Digital Video Extensometer is easy to set up and get results. This accessory is useful for the characterization of materials such as soft tissues, biomaterials, or tissue engineered medical products (TEMPs) being studied under controlled environmental conditions such as in an incubator or a BioDynamic® test instrument.

The device uses digital video techniques to optically monitor the displacement relationships between five simple marks made on a soft specimen to acquire primary strain, secondary strain and shear strain based on Green-Lagrange strain calculations. The degree of strain resolution is dependent on the field of view chosen.

Features include:
  • Monochrome digital video camera with macro lens assembly
    - 640 x 480 pixel resolution
    - 0.5X - 0.4X primary magnification
    - 55 mm focal length
  • Video capture card
  • Capture and analysis software bundle (DVE software application)
providing primary, secondary, and shear strains
  • Full strain scale: 200%
  • Minimum/Maximum field of view: 9mm x 7mm/Infinity
  • Minimum/Maximum working distance: 5 inch/Infinity

The optical strain extensometer package has a 200 Hz update rate and is suitable for test frequencies up to 5 Hz.

Benefits:
  • Easy to set up and get results
  • Simple specimen marking
  • Excellent for characterizing tissues and biomaterials under mechanical stimulation
